About

Hyperkult: short for Hyperkulturemia, better known as Stendhal syndrome.

But in this case, Hyperkult is the name of a blog maintained by me, Heidi, a nomadic writer and cultural maven. Born and bred in California, I’ve lived in the Bay Area, did a brief stint teaching English in Barcelona, moved to Los Angeles to write about film and have most recently landed in London. Hyperkult is a place for me to wax pointless about whatever I please, more often than not food, culture at large, travel, local discoveries and occasional bits of inanity unearthed from the deep, dark recesses of the internet.

A few of my cultural kultural obsessions include Alber Elbaz, The New Yorker, gastropubs and the art of eBaying.

I picked the name because it seems appropriate and sounds cool, but my biggest fear is that it means something offensive in another language. I’m hoping that isn’t the case.
